Professional Interests
Since gaining my doctorate in Computer Studies I have worked for a number of different groups within the University. I am currently employed by three different sections:
- The Systems Team in the University Library. In this team I'm a database and systems developer, working on a variety of in house systems as well as helping with general IT support for the staff and users of the Library. I wrote most of the code for the online booking system and the first five versions of the reading list system, as well as the database and backend XML API for the LUMP based reading list system.
- The Networks and Security Team in IT Services, where I'm involved with logical network design and implementation, database systems design and implementation and "quick hacks" to glue other systems together. I also wrote a reputation monitoring system for ESISS.
- The Sports Biomechanics and Motor Control Research Group in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. In this group I'm a research associate and have worked on a number of research topics including visual tracking of gymnasts, gaze tracking and virtual reality modelling of simulated gymnastics.
